Waste Not, Want More

In this economic climate we are becoming ever more aware of managing cost, reducing wastage, reducing our overall environmental impact and identifying ways of adding value to that which we produce. But when we look at what we ‘produce’ many businesses don’t look at all co-product streams to identify ways of adding value.

All UK food and drink businesses face the challenge of waste reduction, this report suggests how these challenges can be met, and how indeed they may present opportunities to businesses. It also provides proof that having a robust waste management, co-product and sustainability plan can have strong economic benefits. And for some, co-products can be a highly profitable second product stream.

This report was commissioned by AB Agri and compiled by Promar International. The research explores a wide range of UK food, drink, and retail businesses awareness of co-products in order to understand the size of the opportunity and the depth of co-product understanding, not only as a revenue opportunity, but as a sustainable solution to waste management.
